Learning from home arrangements- Tuesday 13- Friday 16 July

Dear Parents/Carers,

Students at Berkeley West Public School were due to return to school next Tuesday 13 July. However, our students and families are currently affected by NSW Health stay-at-home orders and therefore will be learning from home. At this stage, this will stay in place until Friday 16 July.

Our schools will remain open for the students and families who need it, although parents are encouraged to keep their children at home. There will only be minimal staff supervision and schools will provide one unit of work for students, whether they are learning from home or in the classroom.

To enable and support your child to learn from home, please ensure you have access to your child’s Class Dojo account to best communicate with your child’s class teacher. Visit www.classdojo.com and enter your specific code to communicate. If you do not have a code or have forgotten it, please leave your details at the following link and your child’s teacher will send it to you as soon as possible. Link to get code to Class Dojo can be found here- https://forms.gle/RJucn9RZSFnVrK9WA

Your child’s teacher will need some communication from you/your child everyday from home to be marked present for the day.

Masks will be mandatory for all staff whilst indoors. Our children will not be required to wear masks.

For any children coming to school, they will need to be dropped off and picked up at the Nolan Street gate. The Gallop Street gate will not be opened next week. Parents are not to enter the school grounds unless they are picking up a computer for their child at the designated times below on Monday only. Only one parent need come to school to pick up devices.

Please note that the school canteen will NOT be in operation next week from Tuesday 13 July to Friday 16. Any students coming to school will need to bring their own lunch, recess and drink.

Students should not attend school if unwell, even with mild symptoms of COVID-19. Any person with any COVID-19 symptoms will be sent home and should not return to school until they have received a negative test result and are symptom-free.

In circumstances where children have other medical reasons for recurrent symptoms, a letter from their GP is sufficient to negate the requirement for a negative test. Anyone who is unwell with COVID-19 symptoms is strongly encouraged to get tested and self-isolate until a negative result is received.

For families that require computer/Chromebook for their child to learn from home, they will be available for loan to those students who don't have their own computer at home.

One parent from each family can come to the school library to pick up a device and a booklet if your child requires one. You must come with a mask on, your own pen and a phone ready to scan the school’s QR code to check in and out. Physical distancing with staff and other parents is essential.

To avoid queuing the following times have been allocated at the library on Monday 12 July-

K-2: 10.00 - 11.30am
3-4: 12.00 - 1.30pm
5-6: 2.00 - 3.30pm

We appreciate your cooperation and support for the first week back. We will keep you posted on any changes to school routines for Week 2 as they are announced. Keep an eye on Facebook and Class Dojo for future messages.
